Heaven

Heaven is indeed a place on Earth, as we discovered one afternoon not long ago. It lies far above the Buttermilk Country in a talus field. Unlike some other talus which we have recently explored, the Heaven boulders have mostly ok landings, with fewer death pits and spine snapping blocks than other areas we have explored recently. Though the area is filled with beautiful granite, I doubt it will ever become popular due to the rough four wheel drive road and ~40 minute hike required to get there. Nonetheless, I am psyched, for the moment, and will likely be spending quite a bit more time up there this summer. Who says summer isn't bouldering season?

Been way behind on picture taking and posting lately, so I've compressed all of spring into one post, enjoy the shots!

Pollen Grains

The Pollen Grains have gotten renewed attention in recent years, though they still do not get nearly the attention they deserve. On a given weekend, one can drive past fifty vehicles parked at the Peabodies to find only five at the more remote Pollen Grains. This is a shame, really, because the lines at the Pollen Grains are stellar.

Fall Guy and Checkerboard

One beautiful fall day in the Buttermilk Country, I witnessed the most brilliant moment of climbing that I have ever seen: Nick Waters calmly flashing Fall Guy, a 25 foot tall v9 that climbs over a back breaking boulder. Thanks to Andrew who arranged the pads perfectly to make this crazy problem reasonably safe. I was too busy spotting to catch this moment on film, unfortunately. I did however manage to take a few pics of Nick sending the Checkerboard that cold afternoon.
